Gurgaon: Around Rs 1.6 lakh in cash was stolen from a sweet shop in Pataudi. After reviewing CCTV footage, the shop owner alleged that a man who recently joined the shop broke into the premises and fled with the cash.Shyam Singh, originally from Rajasthan and now living in Pataudi, runs Bikaner Sweet near Amar Market. He said he arrived at his shop around 6 am on April 23 and found the shutter open with the lock broken.He alleged that the cash locker was forced open and Rs 1.6 lakh was missing. One of the shop’s CCTV cameras was also damaged. Upon checking the footage from another camera, Singh found that Suraj, who started working at the shop just a month ago, committed the theft on April 22.Singh initially contacted the accused’s family, who assured him that the matter would be resolved and the money returned, the officer added. Based on this assurance, he delayed filing a complaint.However, after the family became unreachable and no money was returned, Singh approached the police on April 27 and submitted a written complaint.Police said they reached the spot on April 23 after receiving information about the break-in through an emergency response vehicle.Following the complaint, an FIR was registered under section 306 (theft by a clerk or servant), 331(4) (house-trespass) and 324(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police launched a search for the accused, who is currently absconding.
