GURUGRAM: A senior scientific officer at the regional Forensic

Laboratory, Bhondsi, has approached the chairman of the state-level committee formed under the
Whistleblower
Protection Policy, seeking
protection
claiming she was being constantly pressured to withdraw a sexual
harassment
complaint against seniors.
In a letter, the woman claimed that there had been repeated efforts to pressure her and influence the investigation. “They are threatening me daily. There is a serious threat to my life, career and family in view of the fact that the accused are very powerful and are being protected by their own department and some senior authorities. Justice shall not be delivered unless a high-power sexual harassment committee is formed by the government while ensuring protection to the complainant and witnesses,” read the letter.
“It is, therefore, requested to kindly provide protection to me, my family and also the witnesses under the whistleblower policy,” added the letter.
The complainant had accused her immediate boss, an assistant director-rank officer of Forensic Science
Laboratory
, Madhuban, of constantly harassing her.
The victim earlier filed a complaint with the national SC/ST commissioner in which she claimed that the harassment started in September last year when she was posted in Bhondsi and continued even when transferred to Gurugram.
Acting on her complaint, the commission issued a notice last month seeking an action taken report.
A senior police officer on condition of anonymity said that the case is under investigation.
