Monsoon likely to hit Gurgaon today, IMD predicts weeklong spell

Gurgaon: IMD has forecast light to heavy rainfall across Haryana till July 1, with monsoon likely to approach in the next 24 hours.Conditions are favourable for the southwest monsoon to advance over some more parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and parts of West UP during the next 24 hours.Meanwhile, weather officials predict no major changes in temperature across the city over the next three days. On Wednesday, the city's minimum temperature was recorded at 28.6 degrees Celsius, 2.6 notches above Tuesday's 26 degrees. The maximum temperature was 33.1 degrees Celsius, 2.7 degrees lower than the previous day.Haryana is set to experience a spell of monsoon activity from June 26 to July 1, bringing light to moderate rainfall across various districts. Thunderstorms and lightning are likely at isolated locations throughout this period. Chandigarh, Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Ambala, Kurukshetra, and Karnal are likely to receive light to moderate rain, while Kaithal, Jind, Panipat, and Sonipat may see rain at many locations. In contrast, areas including Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Jhajjar, Rohtak, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Mewat, Palwal, and Mahendragarh are expected to receive rainfall at fewer places.Residents of Kaithal, Jind, and Sonipat should be prepared for isolated thunderstorms and lightning. Meanwhile in Delhi, IMD has issued a yellow alert, expecting light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms and winds for Wednesday and Thursday.The maximum temperature at the base station Safdarjung was recorded at 34.9 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal against 36.1 degrees Celsius a day earlier. The minimum temperature was recorded at 29.6 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal against 28.2 degrees Celsius a day earlier.
