Gurgaon’s minimum temperature settles at 20°C, to rise 5-7°C over next few days
Gurgaon: While the city witnessed a clear sky on Wednesday, the IMD forecast a spell of light rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds across Haryana from May 10 under the influence of a fresh western disturbance.
According to IMD’s Chandigarh centre, light to moderate rain is likely at isolated places in the state on May 7, 10, 11 and 12. Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are expected on May 7 and 10, while stronger winds of 40-50 kmph may occur at isolated places on May 11 and 12.
Despite sunny conditions during the day, temperatures in Gurgaon remained significantly below normal following the recent spell of rain, thunderstorms and hail. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, which was 5.5 notches below normal. Gurgaon AWS station recorded a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius, while NorthCap University AWS logged 36.7 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature settled at 20 degrees Celsius, nearly 4 notches below normal.
Across Haryana, the average maximum temperature rose by 2.2 degrees Celsius compared to Monday but remained “appreciably below normal” by 4.2 degrees Celsius, IMD said.
Sirsa recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 38.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Rohtak at 37.5 degrees Celsius and Hisar at 35.9 degrees Celsius.
The IMD has also forecast a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 5-7 degrees Celsius over the next five days as weather conditions begin to stabilise between intermittent western disturbance activity.
