GURGAON: A Gurgaon policeman was shot at by four assailants near the NSG camp on NH-8, when he demanded the accused produce the registration papers of the car that they were driving. Constable Yogendra Kumar, posted at Manesar police station, is in a critical condition.
The incident took place in Manesar late on Wednesday night. According to the police, Kumar and another constable Ranjit Singh were patrolling the National Highway on a motorbike.
"They stopped a Maruti car, near the NGS camp, which had four passengers. The car was coming from Daruhera and was heading towards Gurgaon. Kumar asked the passengers to produce their registration documents and other papers but they refused," said a senior police officer.
Constable Kumar opened the door, sat in the front seat and asked the driver to head towards the police station. "The accused started fighting in the car and one of them shot at Kumar," said an officer. "His condition has improved. We have registered a case against the assailants and will arrest them," said Jitendra Rana, SHO of Manesar police station.
