GURGAON: Unexpected rain had led the routine sales of airconditioners and coolers to fall by almost half during the month of April.
"Business is extremely dull and there has been a 60% drop in the sales of airconditioner and air cooler sales at our store" said Rohit Pahuja, owner of Pahuja Airconditioning.
Even though the maximum temperature has crossed 35 degree celsius, the minimum still ranges from 20-22 degree celsius and the shopkeepers are not expecting the sales to rise for another week.

"The sales rise only when the minimum temperature rises. People stay in their workplaces all day and unless the nights become hot, they manage with fans. Since purchasing airconditioner requires a lot of money, and people do not agree to such a thing usually," said Anuj Lamba, a retailer of airconditioners.
Abhinandan Yadav, owner of Akash Airconditioners, who deals mostly with repair and servicing of airconditioners said, "Only 25% of our regular customers have got the servicing of their airconditioners done as yet. Most of them got it done in the first week of April. The remaining refrained due to the rain and the drop in temperature," said Abhinandan Yadav, owner of Akash Airconditioning.
The shopkeepers and dealers complain that with the onset of the summer vacation, people travel to hill stations and their relatives' places. It is possible that they put off the buying of airconditioners till June 15, in expectation of rain soon after that.
"The unexpected rain has ruined our entire circulation and my business is at an all-time low," said Mohammad Zakir, who is an LG AC dealer.
