20-year-old man attacks his mother with cleaver over affair with man in Haryana's Nuh

GURGAON: A 20-year-old youth allegedly attacked his mother with a cleaver, driven by anger over her relationship with another man, in the Pingwan area of Nuh on Monday. According to the police, the youth was the eldest among five siblings.

The woman (42) from Hathin in Palwal allegedly eloped with a man a few days ago and was residing with him at a rented accommodation in Nuh’s Bhatt Colony for the past three weeks, a move that caused resentment among her family members. The son entered the rented accommodation and attacked her hands and feet with the sharp-edged weapon in the afternoon.


He allegedly tied her with a cot before escaping.

Sources said the situation escalated when the eldest son tracked his mother to her new residence. Armed with the sharp knife, he attacked her in a fit of rage, targeting her limbs. Local residents were alerted by her screams and rushed to the house, prompting the son to flee before he could be apprehended. After being informed, local police reached the spot.

The locals took the critically injured woman to a govt hospital. Police said were yet to register a case as the statement of the woman was awaited.

“Preliminary findings suggest the attack was a premeditated act stemming from a deepseated family dispute regarding the victim’s personal choices. Raids are being conducted to trace the accused,” a police officer said.

“Appropriate action will be taken after recording the statement of the victim,” DCP Jitender Kumar said. Another police officer, on the condition of anonymity, said the victim, who was stable now, “was not ready to give a statement” against her son and thus no case was registered till filing of the report.
