100 special kids get their first Covaxin shot in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: Aahan (18), a special child (who has autism disorder), ventured out of his home after a long time to get his first
“He was very comfortable and calm during the entire experience. He was relaxed as he could see lots of special children around him. He waited for 30 minutes for observation after the vaccination. The drive was well organised for parents like us, who are concerned about special children,” Tiwari said. As many as 100 special children took their first Covaxin dose on Wednesday.
Another special child, Priyanaka Hasija (24), also got her vaccine dose and she had reached the centre with her mother Santosh. “Today was not a normal day for her. She was happy and content after her inoculation. She got four bronze medals in powerlifting in the USA in 2015. She is very talented. She studies at Khushboo Welfare Society in Sector 10. As she was around people, who also had issues like her, she wasn’t conscious, ” said Santosh.
Health department officials said that they have suspended vaccination drives for the 18-44 age group in government facilities due to lack of doses. “We have stock left for two more days for 45+ population at present as we have received 9,000 Covaxin for the category,” said Dr Viredner Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurgaon.
