MARGAO: Alleging that Quepem police were trying to hush up a criminal complaint against a policeman attached to the Quepem police station, Bailancho Ekvott president Auda Viegas has decided to take up the matter with the director general of police (DGP) Kishan Kumar.
Viegas has demanded for a free and independent investigation into the case where a 22-year-old girl, who works as a domestic help, has lodged a complaint on February 27 that the policeman, Rama Prabhudesai, had forcible sexual intercourse with her, and forced her to carry out an abortion.
"A policeman in Quepem, a law enforcing authority lured an adolescent, innocent, illiterate girl in the guise of marriage, entered into a sexual relationship with her and even forced her to undergo an abortion. Yet the culprit is not booked" said Viegas, addressing mediapersons on Saturday. Prabhudesai has obtained anticipatory bail from the court.
