Panaji: The Aam Admi Party (AAP), on Thursday, announced the launch of a connectivity programme called 'Goa Jodo' (Unite Goa) in which 300 meetings will be conducted within one month throughout the state ahead of the 2017 assembly polls. The AAP will contest all 40 seats and field around 15 women candidates.
Stating that the party has emerged as the only alternative to provide a corruption-free and people-focused government, coordinator and spokesperson Valmiki Naik, said the AAP has the capacity to salvage what is left of Goa after years of "divisive and destructive rule, both, by the Congress and the BJP".
As part of its 'Goa Jodo' programme, at least 10 meetings are being held in Goa on a daily basis along with door-to-door campaigns, spokesperson Rajeshree Nagarsekar said at a press conference in Panaji on Thursday.
Stating that people are disillusioned, AAP leaders said that during the interactions with citizens, some of the many issues raised were the mounting debt incurred due to financial mismanagement, bizarre attacks on the natural heritage of Goa, lack of transparency over the DefExpo, 2016 held in Naqueri Quitol, and, most prominently, the U-turns of BJP leaders on all the major promises made by the party ahead of the 2012 assembly polls.
As part of the month-long campaign, AAP volunteers will go round and explain to the people the concept of governance being followed in Delhi, Nagarsekar said, adding that emphasis would be laid on engaging the youth and others to take active part in politics and prepare them to be future leaders. "AAP has started work in 25 constituencies and plans to cover all the constituencies by the end of the month," Naik explained.
