Panaji: A group of unidentified persons allegedly carrying choppers, wooden sticks and broken bottles of glass damaged a bus and other vehicles belonging to various owners in Mapusa area. The bus owner, Saddam Dhaddikar, a resident of Khorlim, Mapusa, complained that unidentified persons damaged his bus at around 11pm, causing a loss of Rs 20,000 to the vehicle.

Two other vehicles belonging to different owners were also damaged in the rampage; the amount of damage is not known.
Police sources said that Rakesh Pednekar, Satyam Tivrekar and Rahil Shaikh, all residents of Khorlim, Mapusa were verbally abused and assaulted with weapons allegedly carried by the unidentified group, causing grievous injuries to the three. They were also threatened with dire consequences by the group.
The Mapusa police initiated an investigation, and Salim Abdul Nadaf from Cunchelim, Mapusa, was one of the first accused to be arrested, police sources said on Friday
