PANAJI: Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) chief Subhash Velingkar on Monday filed his nomination papers for the Panaji bypoll. “Panaji byelection is a fight of Panajikars' self-respect,” Velingkar said, adding that this time the people of Panaji would not vote for any particular political party, but would vote for a clean and honest politician.
Velingkar, who was former chief minister
Manohar Parrikar’s mentor, said that his party was contesting the bypoll with the vision of providing the people of the state with corruption free governance in the coming years, the foundation for which will be laid by Panjikars.
“We don’t consider the Panaji election as a bypoll. Instead we look at it as the election that will lead to the laying of the foundation for clean politics in the state and it is the Panajikars who will lay this foundation stone by electing the GSM candidate from Panaji, paving the way for the formation of a GSM government in the next five years,” Velingkar said.
The former state RSS head said that GSM will take a pledge to provide a corruption-free government when it steps into the state assembly.
Monday was the last day for filing nomination papers for the Panaji bypolls and speaking to reporters after filing his papers, Velingkar said that politics in the state had become unethical and corrupt, and was all about “settings”.
