Daniel Salvador Lemos

a versatile singer from the tiatr stage passed away on Saturday after a brief illness in Mumbai. He was 71.

A recipient of the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award on the occasion of the 125th anniversary celebrations by the tiatr celebrations committee and the

Tiatr Academy of Goa

(TAG).

In 2013 Lemos was awarded TAG’s ‘Lifetime Contribution to Tiatr’, award for his contribution to tiatrs.

Originally from Arambol, he made his debut on the tiatr stage at the age of 13 in 1958 with ‘Mhojem Ghor Futpath’ by

Agostinho Coelho

. He went on to perform in Pat D’Souza’s, ‘Maim’ in 1963 and tiatrs by C Alvares, M Boyer, Jacint Vaz, Prem Kumar, Bab Peter and Ophelia, Anil Kumar, Prince Jacob, Jose Rose, Tony Dias, Mario Menezes, Mariano Fernandes, Samuel Carvalho and John D’Silva among others.

Lemos has Konkani audio cassettes and CDs to his credit, besides acting and singing in tiatrs, and has also directed a tiatr, ‘Bebdo’. TAG condoled his death.
