Three held in Panaji with ganja worth Rs 35,000

Panaji: In three different raids, Panaji police on Tuesday arrested three persons for illegal possession of a narcotic substance ‘suspected to be ganja’ worth Rs 35,550.

Panaji police, acting on specific information, conducted raids at three different places in the city.

Police said that the accused persons came there to deliver the narcotic substance to prospective customers.

In the first raid, near joggers’ park, they arrested Shalu Kale, 30, a resident of Mumbai, and seized 115g of ganja worth Rs 11,500.

In the second, the force arrested Suraj Pawar, 32, resident of Mumbai, near Divja circle with ganja worth Rs 14,000.

The third raid, near the directorate of health services, saw police arrest Maya Singh, 35, a native of Uttar Pradesh, with 100g of the narcotic worth Rs 10,000.

The raids were conducted by PSIs Prasai Shetye, Vibhavari Gaonkar and Vivek Halarnkar.

Police inspector Siddhant Shirodkar said that further investigation is in progress.
