PONDA: Following a complaint lodged by the Ponda municipal council (PMC), the Ponda police on Tuesday arrested three people, including two vendors from PMC’s Budhwar Peth market. They were later released on bail.
The police said that the vendors, Kishor Naik and Narendra Parab, had trespassed into the PMC market with an excavator driven by Upendra Prajapati.
PMC chairperson Radhika Nayak said the trio had allegedly entered the market with the excavator to damage a water pipeline that supplies water to fish and chicken stores inside the market, in order to harass the stores’ owners as they pay sopo tax.
