Theft at Tillari cannel in Chandel

Equipment's worth over rupees one lakh were stolen from the government water pump house in Chandel. Subhash Belgaonkar, assistant engineer SD-II PWD at Pernem complained that on 07 of January 2013 unknown accused person committed theft of 150 M.M.

MAPUSA: Equipment's worth over rupees one lakh were stolen from the government water pump house in Chandel. Subhash Belgaonkar, assistant engineer SD-II PWD at Pernem complained that on 07 of January 2013 unknown accused person committed theft of 150 M.M.
Kinetic tamper proof air valves from open place at crossing Tillari cannel, Chandel. Belgaonkar has claimed the loss of Rs.1.05 lakhs.

Police has registered the case under section 379 of IPC. Head constable K.B. Naik is further investigating the case. Recently w ater resources minister Dayanand Mandrekar and the speaker of the Goa legislative assembly and the Pernem MLA Rajendra Arlekar paid a surprised visit to the 15 MLD Chandel water treatment plant.
The staffs at the water treatment plant were at the losing end after the visit. There were several complaints of the locals regarding the mismanagement of the plant by the officials. Locals have complained of irregular water supply due to the absenteeism at the plant.
