‘Tar bridge flaw poses risk to life’

Panaji: There is a technical flaw in the construction of the road near Tar bridge, which could be a potential danger to the life of motorists, said Aldona MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira. He conducted an inspection of the location along with the locals who had complained about the flooding caused by the pre-monsoon rainfall.

“There is a road connecting to the underpass. Once the motorists exit the underpass, they are confronted by the bridge. There is no access to exit from there nor a turn and as a result, there are traffic jams. This is an engineering flaw,” he said.

He said the local PWD team is not to be blamed and slammed the government for hiring consultants from Delhi. “What is the use of having a consultant if the road leads directly to the wall? The PWD will now have to align the road and widen it to avoid accidents,” he said.
