: The chief electoral officer has taken cognisance of the letter of the
Catholic Association of Goa
to ensure stringent action and preventive measures against elements trying to sow discord and disharmony among religious communities in Sancoale.
Deputy chief electoral officer Sangeeta Naik wrote to the
South Goa Collector
, who is the district election officer, to take action and file a compliance report.
The Catholic Association of Goa (CAG) had appealed to the chief secretary, director general of police, chief electoral officer, South Goa Collector and other authorities to increase security at Sancoale and for action against individuals and groups for trying to sow discord and disharmony among religious communities.

said they sought action fearing mischief by the right-wing outfits, resulting in loss to life and property leading to religious discordand communal disharmony during the feast of
St Joseph Vaz
which is on Sunday.
