Squad acts against 'illegal' hill cutting
MARGAO: Acting on a complaint of alleged illegal hill cutting at the Verna plateau, the South Goa flying squad recently clamped down upon the violators and booked a case against them.
Official sources said the labourers as well as the driver of a tipper truck working at the site fled upon noticing the flying squad. The ignition keys of the truck were attached by the squad and the accused directed to produce documents, if any, to the town and country planning department (TCP) to prove that they have procured necessary permissions from the authorities for hill cutting.
