Shripad Naik gets summons to testify

PANAJI: The judicial magistrate first class,

Panaji

, has issued summons to Union Ayush minister Shripad Naik in an alleged cheating case filed against his former staffer Vinod Desai.


Naik has been summoned to appear in court on June 3 to testify in the matter or to give material evidence for the prosecution. If he neglects or refuses to appear on the date, a warrant will be issued to compel his attendance, the summons stated.

A complaint was filed by Mervin Fernandes against Vinod Desai, who in 2014 promised Fernandes a government job on payment of Rs 6 lakh and had taken an advance of Rs 2 lakh.
