Panaji: The
Election Commission of India has appointed Sandip Jacques, IAS, secretary (revenue) as the electoral roll observer for Goa during the current special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral roll.
Jacques will be available for the public on Dec 18 at 10.30am in the conference hall of North Goa collectorate, Panaji, and at 3.30pm in room number 407 on the fourth floor of Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex, Margao.
The public can also approach the roll observer in his office at the secretariat, Porvorim, or contact him on 0832-2419420, 2419646 2419411, 2419620.
As of 3pm on Monday, booth level officers digitised 99.89% of the forms i.e 11.83 lakh of the 11.85 lakh electorate in Goa. BLOs have distributed 100% forms.
Booth level officers have until Dec 11 to collect filled enumeration forms and digitised the. The draft electoral roll will be published on Dec 16. Claims and objections can be submitted till Jan 15, and final roll will be out on Feb 14.
Appeals have been made to the ECI to further extend the deadlines so that names don’t get struck off the rolls. There have also been demands for additional time for NRIs to fill forms as they are facing issues filling forms online.
