BICHOLIM: Six councillors of Sakhali municipal council (SMC) have threatened to go on an indefinite hunger strike in protest, alleging non-cooperation by Sakhali MLA Pramod Sawant as far as development of Sakhali town is concerned. The councillors have given the state government a deadline of eight days to decide on this matter.
SMC chairperson Dharmesh Saglani and councillors Damodar Ghadi, Milind Relekar, Vibha Desai, Kunda Madkar and Riaz Khan addressed mediapersons on Saturday informing those present that the SMC has seen nine chief officers over the last two years, and to compound issues, the officers were holding the post as additional charge.
