Colva: South Goa sessions court has sentenced Ismail Mulla alias Chotu to rigorous life imprisonment for the murder of
Muzahid Khan at Davorlim in 2020.
According to the prosecution, Mulla along with co-accused Sadiq Bellary, attacked Javid Panwale with an iron rod over previous enmity. However, Panwale resisted, striking Bellary with the same rod, leaving him injured.
Mulla then fled the scene, only to return armed with a knife. He fatally stabbed Khan, who later succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Hospicio, Margao.
Bellary passed away during the case and the trial proceeded solely against Mulla. After examining 39 witnesses, judge Sherin Paul found Mulla guilty under provisions of the IPC.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him. In case of failure to pay, he will have to undergo an additional three years’ imprisonment.In case the convict pays the money, an amount of Rs 75,000 will be handed over as compensation to the victim’s family.
