PANAJI: Asatyameva Jayate (Konkani) by Shree Kamakshi Higher Secondary School, Curti-Ponda and Ahinsechi Gosht (Marathi) by S S Angle Higher Secondary School, Mashe, Loliem won the first prize in the one-act play competition at the high secondary school level organized by Kala Academy. The competition was organised by Kala Academy at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir from December 29, 2008 to January 1, 2009 and the panel of judges comprised of Anjali Amonkar, Saiesh Deshpande and Devanand Malvankar.
In the Konkani section, Ubant Taru by S S Angle Higher Secondary School, Mashe, Loliem and Arwal Hadtat Hawal by Shree Ameya Higher Secondary School, Curti-Ponda bagged the second and third prize respectively. Koustubh Shilkar (Arwal Hadtat Hawal) and Prajyot Naik (Asatyamev Jayate) were selected for first and second prize for acting (male) whereas Darshana Salgaonkar (Ek Ashilo Sadu) and Pranali Naik (Asatyamev Jayate) were awarded first and second prize for acting in the female category.
The merit certificates (male) have been awarded to Swapnesh Naik (Kani Asturechi), Devendra Velip (Ubant Taru), Minesh Gawade (Arwal Hadtat Hawal) and Sunil Gaonkar (Ek Ashilo Sadu). Ulhas Y Naik (Asatyameva Jayate) and Anant Agni (Ubant Taru), Subhash Jan (Arwal Hadtat Hawal) bagged first, second and third prize respectively for direction.
The prize for best setting was awarded to Namdeo Naik (Asatyameva Jayate) and merit certificate was claimed by Venkatrai Naik (Ubant Taru). Santosh Shetkar (Ubant Taru) won the prize for best light effects while Vijay Remje (Asatyameva Jayate) won the merit certificate. Sudhir Pai (Ubant Taru) won the prize for best background music and Subhash Jan (Arwal Hadtat Hawal) claimed the merit certificate.
The first prize for best script was awarded to Ulhas Naik (Asatyameva Jayate) while Jayaram Gaonkar (Ubant Taru) won the second prize.
In the Marathi section, Soft Corner by D M's Madhusudan Kushe Higher Secondary School, Assagao and Sanvad Sadhtana Swatashi by Shree Shantadurga Higher Secondary School, Bicholim bagged the second and third prize respectively. The first and second prize for best acting (male) was awarded to Tanmay Naik (Sanvad Sadhtana Swatashi) and Deep Satarkar (Ahinsechi Gosht). In the female category, Chaiti N Kadkade (Sanvad Sadhtana Swatashi) and Shruti Rane (Soft Corner) won the second and third prize respectively.
The merit certificate for acting (male) was awarded to Madan Pagi (Ahinsechi Gosht). Snehal Kamat (Soft Corner). Aarti Chari (Ahinsechi Gosht) claimed the merit certificate in the female category.
Kavindra V Phaldesai (Ahinsechi Gosht), Rajaram Narvekar (Soft Corner) and Durgesh Majik (Sanvad Sadhtana Swatashi) won the first, second and third prize respectively for direction.
The prize for best setting was awarded to Devidas Gaonkar (Ahinsechi Gosht) and Kuldeep Kamat (Soft Corner) won the merit certificate. The prize for best light effects was awarded to Sushnat Naik (Soft Corner) and Santosh Shetkar (Ahinsechi Gosht) won the merit certificate. The prize for best background music was awarded to Vikas Chopdekar (Ahinsechi Gosht). Kavindra Phaldesai (Ahinsechi Gosht) won the prize for best script. The date of prize distribution will be declared at a later stage, mentions the press note.
