Porvorim house burgled, goods worth Rs 31L stolen

PANAJI: A clerk at an insurance company has complained to the Porvorim police that thieves broke into his house on Tuesday morning and stole items worth about Rs 31 lakh.
Gajendra Rataboli, in his complaint to the police, said that he left for work at 9.30am on Tuesday. When he returned to his house in Britona in the afternoon, he found that the latch of the main door was broken.
He entered the house and found that the cupboard was broken and 28 lakh cash was stolen from the locker. Along with that, gold ornaments and a chit fund amounting to 83,000 belonging to the employees of the insurance company was also stolen, his complaint read. The total value of the cash and gold stolen from the house amounted to Rs 31 lakh. The police have registered a theft case.
