Panaji: A Pernem court directed Arvind Rawat, a tourist from Uttarakhand, to appear before the principal district and sessions court on Jan 28 in connection with him allegedly driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, that resulted in the killing of a pedestrian in June 2025, The driver fdashing into cars, a bike, and an electricity pole before the car came to a halt.
It is the case of the prosecution that on June 14 last year at around 4 pm, Rawat allegedly, under the influence of alcohol and without possessing a motor driving licence, drove in a rash and negligent manner without taking proper care and caution, thereby endangering human life, while proceeding towards the entry point of the Arambol parking lot, and dashed into a male pedestrian, namely Hanumant Annasaheb Kadam, aged 71 years, a resident of Mumbai. He then dashed into three parked cars, then a scooter, and finally into an electricity pole before the speeding car came to a halt.

The injured victim was rushed to the hospital and was declared brought dead.
