Calangute: A busy intersection on the Calangute-Mapusa and Parra-Assagao roads will be named after former chief minister Manohar Parrikar. The spot close to Parrikar’s ancestral house will be known as Manohar Parrikar junction, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said on Friday.
Work on the junction, including a mural, is currently underway and it will be inaugurated on his birth anniversary on December 13, he said.
“It is a tribute from the villagers of Parra to him. Parrikar started a political party from nothing in Goa and made it big. This is his village,” Lobo said after inaugurating a renovated Ganesh immersion pond at Parra.
