One Konkani, 7 Marathi films at Iffi
Panaji: The Indian
Miransha Naik’s Konkani film, Juze, has made it to the final 26 of Indian Panorama, chosen from 153 eligible entries. Hindi films, Jolly LLB-2 and Poorna, Bengali movie, Meghnad Bodh Rahasya, and the Marathi film, Ventilator, are the other mainstream films to be screened under the section.
Kaasav, the Marathi language film to have won accolades at the 64th National Film Awards, has received a direct entry into the Indian Panorama section. Seven other Marathi films will be screened under the section this year, the highest for any language. Four in Hindi, two each in Bengali and Assamese, and one each in Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Oriya, will be screened under Indian Panorama.
Kshitij A Horizon, Kachcha Limbu, Muramba, Pimpal, Maza Bhirbhira, Redu and Idak are the Marathi films chosen by a jury headed by filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh.
The non-feature film section will also open with a Hindi language film, Pushkar Puran, by director Kamal Swaroop, while Fireflies in the Abyss, directed by Chandrasekhar Reddy has been included in Indian Panorama 2017 by virtue of direct entry for having won the 64th National Film Awards.
The non-feature film section will see screening of films in Haryanvi, Apatani and Santali languages other than those in Hindi, Bengali, Marathi and Malayalam. The films have been selected by a jury headed by Sudhir Mishra.
