Nat’l institute to study kidney ailments

Porvorim: Health minister Vishwajit Rane on Thursday said that state will engage a national institute to carry out a study to detect the cause of the rising kidney ailments in Canacona.

Opposition MLAs said that setting up dialysis units is not the solution and the cause has to be identified to bring down the cases. Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar told the health minister that it is a grave issue which needs serious measures.

“We will commission a study along with the health secretary and a govt of India body,” said Rane. He said state has received Rs 10 crore aid from Centre which will be utilised to address kidney issues as well.
