’ bagged six prizes each on Sunday at the Eight Goa State Film Festival Awards at

auditorium which was packed almost to the brim.

The four member jury chaired by internationally acclaimed actor-director Bijaya Jena handed the award for best story to ‘Enemy?’ while ‘Home Sweet Home’, declared the runners-up in the best Konkani film category, bagged the award for best lyrics and best screenplay in addition to three more awards.

was named the best actress for her work in ‘

Nirmon

’.

The award ceremony was attended by chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar and actor Nana Patekar among other stalwarts of Konkani and Marathi cinema. Appreciating the growth of the Konkani film industry,

Parsekar

said, “The increase in participation is a good sign for the industry. Since 2004, we have shown a steady growth and we are planning to build a permanent convention centre to organize events like the International Film Festival of India regularly.”

‘Gurupurnima’ was declared the best Marathi film and noted director, writer and producer

was conferred the lifetime achievement award for his contribution to cinema.
