After his debut film ‘Challis Dis’ (40 Days), producer-director Mozino Travasso has released his second Konkani movie, ‘War-Onn’, that has been shot entirely in Goa with an all-Goan cast and without any financial assistance from the state government.
The 40 lakh film premiered on October 7 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. Travasso, who has also written the film script, said, “I love my mother tongue, Konkani, and decided to shoot the movie in this language.
The title, ‘War-Onn’, sounds like the protangonist’s name, Warren. It is a story about the fight against injustice and corruption. The film has been certified ‘U’ by the
Central Board of Film Certification and includes some comedy scenes.
“‘War-Onn’ is about a poor boy whose parents died in a road accident when he was young. Brought up by his uncle and aunt, his ambition was to be a seaman and live a prosperous and successful life, specially as he was denied this lifestyle during his childhood. But fate had its own plans. After he witnessed an accident wherein a young girl was killed on the spot by a reckless truck driver, the boy was reminded of his parents dying in a similar manner. Infuriated, he tries to take the law in his hands by assaulting the truck driver. The truck is owned by a political leader who uses his clout with the police to register a false case against the youth and put him in jail. A social worker witnessing the travesty of justice, decides to step in and frees the youth, but exploits him for selfish gains. Shocked by the deceit, the disgruntled youth now seeks revenge against the corrupt system as well as those who have betrayed his trust,” Travasso explained.
The cast of ‘War-Onn’ include Mithun Mahambrey, Hasina Shaikh, Fermino Goes, Darshan Lolienkar, Dolla Mascarenhas, Justino Fernandes, Luis Bachan, Brigida D’Souza, Sheryl Gomes, Neto, Kenny, Shubham, Maghan and Travasso.
While the cinematography is done by Nilesh Keni, the music director is Elick Vaz and the playback singers comprise Anapurna Sakardande, Shakil Ahmed Rafi, Raiza Belincy Pereira and Vaz. The trio of Bappi Mondal, Relisha and Venisha are responsible for the choreography whereas the film’s editing and technical support is done by Shubhajit Datta.
