mania’, that gave filmmakers 72 hours to shoot after the topics were announced, received 65 films from participants nationallyand 30 entries under the Goa state category. Winners of the contest, hosted by the entertainment society of Goa, were recently felicitated at an award ceremony held at Kala Academy.


“The objective of this

competition

was to recognise excellence in short film-making, provide networking opportunities for filmmakers, and provide a national platform to short filmmakers to showcase their work,” ESG officials said.

Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, who was attending Iffi,was invited to blind-pick three topics from a choice of many, then sign and seal them. The topics were revealed on November 23 at a press conference. The selected topics “Wrong Number”, “Latecomer” and “An Outsider” were announced and the participants were informed through various channels. The movie makers had to submit their films in 72 hours after the topic was announced.

The highest number of entries was received from Maharashtra, with 26 films in the running. There were six entries each from Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

A panel of notable members from the film community, consisting of Lipika Singh Darai, Shivaji Lotan Patil and Pradeep Nair judged the films.
