Mapusa sub-registrar’s office to move: CM

Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant said in the House on Friday that the Mapusa sub-registrar’s office will be shifted to new premises as this is a necessity. Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said the office is the highest revenue-generating centre but is in a dilapidated condition, with people having to walk up three floors as the lift doesn’t work.

Despite Rs 300 crore revenue being generated per month, the office is neglected, Lobo said, seeking the immediate shifting of the office.

Several MLAs flagged vacancies in the judiciary, especially in fast-track courts.

Sawant said govt has given administrative approval for 74 additional posts of judicial officers. He said there are seven existing judges, 19 vacant posts, 12 newly recruited staff, and four recruitments are under process.

Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira said the administrative tribunal needs to be shifted to new premises as it is situated in an old building in Panaji. He also sought a website for the tribunal with case status and judgments uploaded online.

Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuemkar sought a solution to the parking problem at the new South Goa courts’ building.
