CCTV captures woman stealing gold from shop
Lucknow: A woman, posing as a customer, was caught on CCTV stealing a pair of gold earrings from a jewellery showroom in the Bhoothnath market in Indiranagar. The CCTV footage of the theft went viral on Friday. The accused woman, Nisha Kumari, was arrested on Friday night. The incident took place around 6pm on Thursday at Riddhi Jewellers. According to police, the woman entered the store and asked the shopkeeper to show her a pair of gold earrings. While the shopkeeper was busy taking out other ornaments, she discreetly dropped a pair of one gram gold earrings from the tray onto the floor. Taking advantage of the distraction, she quickly picked up the earrings, hid them and walked out of the store without making any purchase.It was only after she left that the shopkeeper realised a pair of earrings was missing. On reviewing the CCTV footage, her act was clearly caught on camera. The shop owner alerted the police, who took the footage into custody and launched a search to identify and trace the suspect."A case has been registered at Ghazipur police station," said SHO Ghazipur Vikas Rai.
