Mapusa: Sudip Tamhankar, a prominent leader of the All Goa Private Bus Owners’ Association, was allegedly assaulted by a group of five people at the KTC bus stand in Mapusa on Saturday. The incident occurred shortly after Tamhankar addressed the media on the operation of illegal transport services in the state. Police said he had visited the bus stand to “expose” private buses allegedly operating interstate services without permits or registration.
After interacting with journalists, Tamhankar was leaving the premises on his motorcycle when he was intercepted. “As I was leaving the Kadamba bus stand, a group of people followed me and pushed my bike, causing me to fall and sustain injuries. They also kicked my vehicle and took photos of me while I was on the ground,” Tamhankar stated in his complaint.
