‘Juze’ director buries hatchet with festival organisers

PANAJI

: Miransha Naik, director of Juze the only Konkani film that made it to the Indian Panorama section of

Iffi

and who, just a few days ago was upset about the treatment meted out to his crew, praised the festival’s organisers on Friday for the excellent infrastructure that helped create the right cinematic experience on Thursday, when his film was screened.

Earlier, Naik had complained of mismanagement of his film’s cast and co-producers by the organisers of Iffi. He claimed there were issues regarding booking flight tickets and accommodation for them.

Juze tells the story of a terrifying landlord in a Goan village, who drives

Santosh

, a stubborn teenager, on his path to self-discovery; to make a brave and difficult choice.

Naik said making a film is not about giving a message or making a statement. “To me, filmmaking is about telling an engaging story and that’s what I attempted to do with this film,” he explained.

Juze made it to the final 26 feature films being screened in the Indian Panorama segment of the film festival’s current edition.

The other Konkani feature films that had vied for a spot in the section were Amizade by

Aniket Naik

, and Mahaprayan by Nilesh Karamunge.
