Panaji: The high court of Bombay at Goa disposed of a petition challenging the authorities’ inaction against illegal constructions on Chicalim comunidade land.
The division bench, comprising justices Bharati Dangre and Nivedita Mehta, disposed of the petition after the administrator of comunidades, South Goa, told the court that it would take the notice issued to the illegal structures to its logical end within 8 weeks.
The notice was issued to several individuals asking them to vacate the land immediately upon receipt of the show-cause notice, failing which their structures would be removed at their expense.
The forum against corruption, illegalities and destruction, Sanjay Mhalsekar and Rui Araujo went to the high court, raising objections to illegal RCC construction in survey number 7/1 at Chicalim panchayat, Bogmalo. They were aggrieved by the failure of the administrator of comunidades, South, to comply with directions issued by the South Goa collector.
The high court accepted the statement of the administrator of comunidades, South, and disposed of the petition.
The petitioners submitted to the court that many illegal RCC residential structures, including a mini football ground (Futsal), were constructed on comunidade land and the authorities didn’t take any action despite complaints.
