Panaji: The Green Ray Foundation will organise the Green Glow environmental festival on Jan 10, in association with the Goa State Biodiversity Board and the department of art and culture. The event is open to all students, teachers, researchers, journalists, and filmmakers.
Green Ray Foundation was founded by the Late Maria Claudete Pinto, an environmentalist, with a vision to promote ecological preservation by including students from schools and colleges.

The festival will include screenings of two environmental films: “Little Planet: A Tale of Frogs”, by Suhas Premkumar, who spent nearly seven years capturing the diversity of frogs in the Sahyadris in Karnataka, and Arti Kulkarni’s documentary, “Turtles with Antenna”, showcasing the state’s olive ridley turtles.
An editing training workshop will be conducted by journalist Niraj Prabhu to equip students, journalists, and documentary enthusiasts with skills to capture birds, animals, and folk traditions using cameras or mobile phones. Member secretary of the Goa Biodiversity Board, Pradeep Sarmokkadam, will deliver the keynote address at the festival.
The festival will also confer the Maria Claudete Pinto Memorial Green Commitment Award on environmentalist and cartoonist Alexyz Fernandes, for his contribution to environmental projects such as the annual plant festival at St Francis Xavier School, Siolim.
A green-skilling workshop and an exhibition of climate-themed posters and wallpapers created by eco clubs from various schools will also be held for students.
