PANAJI: Congress state president

Girish Chodankar

on Wednesday said that people of Goa have understood the “split votes” agenda of BJP that it has been implementing along with AAP and TMC. “But people are with Congress and they will vote for a stable government,” he said .

Chodankar asked party workers who left Congress, to return to the party-fold. “Today

Goemkars

are with us. So, I ask our former workers to come back. We have nominated new faces. Congress is changing,”

Chodankar

said at a press conference. “People have an emotional bond with Congress. We have changed our structure in accordance with people's suggestions. We have not given tickets to defectors.”

Chodankar said that BJP cadre is angry and fed up with the way the party is functioning. “Chief minister is losing in his Sanquelim constituency. Meeting of Amit Shah in his constituency is proof of it,” he said.

Activist Swati Kerkar who joined TMC returned to Congress on Wednesday. Her return, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Goa desk in-charge, said was a good sign. “In the next few days, she will play an important role in mobilising people in favour of Congress,” he said.

Former Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot, who was in Goa to campaign for Congress, said this election has become interesting. “People of Goa are politically aware and educated. They will not fall for lofty promises of other parties. Attempts to cut Congress’ votes will not bear fruit, ” he said.
