Goa police driver held for stealing gold from accident victim
Margao: Anjuna police on Friday arrested a police control room (PCR) driver for allegedly stealing gold jewellery from an accident victim while transporting him to hospital. The stolen valuables were worth Rs 7-8 lakh, police said.The accused, Saish Parsekar, allegedly stole the gold ornaments from Jaster Rodrigues, who had suffered critical injuries after his car hit a tree at Anjuna on Jan 24. Parsekar was responsible for transporting the injured victim to the hospital and allegedly took advantage of the victim’s helplessness. Rodrigues subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

The matter came to light when the victim’s brother lodged a complaint with Anjuna police, stating that he suspected Parsekar of stealing his brother’s valuables. Acting swiftly on the complaint, police initiated an investigation and, following initial interrogations, arrested Parsekar. Police enquiries revealed Parsekar hadn’t accompanied the accident victim to the hospital.Parsekar has been booked under charges of theft. Further investigation is under way.
