GFP stands by ‘regionalistic intent’, to strengthen party at grassroots
Panaji: Goa Forward Party (GFP) held its state executive committee meeting on Monday where the party “emphatically and unanimously” said that it would continue to stand by its “regionalistic intent.”
Party president Vijai Sardesai chaired the meeting at the Goemkar Ghor office.
While acknowledging the setback after the February 14 elections, Sardesai directed the party functionaries to focus on strengthening the party at all levels.

The state executive committee members also discussed political developments in the state and organisational activities ahead of the coming panchayat elections.
“We emphatically and unanimously endorsed the regionalistic intent on which our party was founded, and reiterated our commitment to uphold and defend the interests of Goa and Goemkars without fear,” said Sardesai.
The party, that was born just months ahead of the 2017 state assembly elections, has repeatedly insisted that only a regional party could help protect Goa’s identity, culture and interests.
Given that BJP appears to have cemented itself at the helm of affairs while Congress struggles to pose a significant challenge, GFP finds itself at an inflection point.
In a statement, the party said that all the members of the state executive were present for the meeting that was convened on Monday.
The decision to strengthen the party at all levels, to identify and pursue issues facing Goa, and to actively partner with Goemkars at grassroots were taken.
