Four wild boars enter mattress shop in Chaudi
Canacona: Four wild boars— a female and three boarlets— entered a mattress showroom on Thursday, at Chaudi market in Canacona. Footage of the four animals running wildly around the room before exiting, was captured on CCTV camera.Owner of the shop, Ajit Pai said that the wild animals damaged a glass cupboard.He said the wild boars came from the direction of the old bus stand and, before entering his shop, knocked down two motorcycles parked by the side of the road. He added that he usually shuts down the shop at 8pm, but on Wednesday, he had closed the shop at 6.30 to attend a function at home. “As a customer wanted a pillow, I opened the shop again, which is about 150m away from my home,” Pai said.“After opening the shop, I had gone upstairs to get the pillows when I heard the sound of a glass breaking. When I went to check, I saw four wild boars running into my shop. Suddenly all of them came running out and tried to enter the opposite shop. However, seeing some hindrance in front of them, they ran into a field and disappeared,” Pai said, adding that they did not cause any harm to him.Range forest officer (territory) Anand Mestri confirmed that he received video footage of the incident. Mestri said the wild boars might have been chased by some dogs, upon which, they had no alternative but to enter the market area to seek shelter .After exiting the mattress shop the boars tired to enter the opposite shop. “However, seeing some hindrance in front of them, they ran into a field and disappeared,” Pai said, adding that they did not harm him.
