FIR against UP judge, husband after parking row at Goa restaurant

Goa police have filed an FIR against Uttar Pradesh civil judge Deepanshi Chaudhary and her husband, Nitin Lal, following an incident at an Anjuna restaurant. The couple allegedly abused and wrongfully restrained restaurant staff over a parking dispute on Friday evening.

PANAJI: Goa police on Saturday registered a first information report (FIR) against a lady civil judge (senior division) in Uttar Pradesh, Deepanshi Chaudhary, for allegedly abusing and wrongfully restraining the staff of a restaurant at Anjuna over a parking issue.“Anjuna police have registered the FIR against Judge Chaudhary and her husband, Nitin Lal,” North Goa SP Rahul Gupta said.The incident took place on Friday evening when the judge, along with her husband, visited the restaurant at around 6.30pm. Police inspector of Anjuna, Suraj Gawas said that the couple started an argument with the staff over some parking issue, and later they received a call from the staff of the restaurant to report the incident.Based on the call, a team of Anjuna police visited the spot, and the judge, along with her husband, was brought to the police station.Gawas said that Lal told the police that he is an additional sessions judge, and when he was asked to produce the identity card, he failed. Gawas said that, on the other hand, the judge produced the identity card but stopped them from taking a photocopy or photo.

Entire incident was captured on restaurant CCTV footage: Police

Gawas said that based on the complaint of the judge, an FIR has been registered against the staff of the restaurant, including Amit Mishra and security personnel for allegedly abusing the judge and her husband.
Police said that as per the judge’s complaint, the staff pushed her and her husband with the intent of outraging her modesty and further threatened both with dire consequences. The staff also pushed them out of the property/restaurant over the issue of parking, it was alleged.Anjuna police said that the entire incident has been captured on CCTV footage of the restaurant. Gawas said that the judge refused to go for a medical examination. Gawas said that the judge told them that they are staying in a five-star resort at Bambolim.Gawas said that when a lady police sub-inspector contacted the judge on Saturday to hand over the FIR copy, which was registered upon her complaint, she told the police that she had left for the airport and requested to send it on her phone. “We have forwarded the FIR copy on WhatsApp. We have issued a notice to both the judge and her husband to visit the police station at their convenience to conduct a scene of crime panchanama based on their complaint,” Gawas said.
