Farmers relieved as crocodile captured in Pale-Tollem fields

Vasco: Farmers of Pale-Tollem, Velsao, finally heaved a sigh of relief when the crocodile was caught in the trap on Friday morning.

The one and half metre crocodile, which was sighted in the fields of Pale-Tollem on Thursday morning, have brought scare among farmers and workers. Due to the vast spread of fields, there was doubt in the minds of villagers, about whether the trap will work or not.

However, the forest department’s plan to lay a trap was successful within 24 hours of sighting the crocodile on Friday morning.

“We have worried about cultivation with the onset of monsoon. The forest department has done a good job and their efforts need to be appreciated for catching the dangerous crocodile. I express sincere gratitude to the forest department personnel for their efforts and rendering support to the farmers in giving relief and starting their routine farming in their fields”, said social activist Roquezinho D’Souza.
