Delay in nods for campaign vehicles: Viresh Borkar

Panaji: RG MLA Viresh Borkar questioned the delay by the returning officer for the zilla panchayat elections in granting permissions for vehicles with sound systems that will be used for campaigning. “BJP is using govt machinery to work against the opposition,” said Borkar.

According to the model code of conduct, the permissions were to be given within 24 hours, but it has been three days, said Borkar. He mentioned that permissions were granted to all the other parties, but that RG has not received permissions in Tiswadi.


“We asked them why our permissions are delayed. The police said our application has not reached them. The deputy collector said the report from the traffic police has not been received,” said Borkar.

The legislator also claimed that BJP is pressurising govt officials to boycott and delay RG’s ZP candidates. “Instead of meeting people and going door to door to campaign, we are forced to continuously follow up with the deputy collector and the returning officer,” said Borkar.
