PANAJI: Crime Branch of Goa police on Friday night raided a gambling den at Siolim run by a local politician and arrested nine persons in the case.
Crime branch superintendent of police Karthik Kashyap told TOI that the card gambling was run in an open space near Siolim Bridge.
According to reliable sources, Crime Branch received information that a local politician is running a card gambling den at Siolim.

After verifying the information, police team raided the den and arrested the nine accused and subsequently released them on bail.
“We have seized Rs 41,300 during the raid,” he added. Crime Branch is regularly conducting the raid on card, machine slot and matka gambling dens to curb illegal gambling dens running in the state.
