Canacona: Water resource department officials said that raw water is being released from the Chapoli reservoir in a controlled manner to ensure water availability this summer.“Water released from Chapoli reservoir and the irrigation dam at Gaunem, Canacona, is controlled in all aspects,” said assistant engineer Dhananjay Nagvekar. He said the department has taken measures to meet the water demand.He said that 10 million litres per day (MLD) of water is supplied from Chapoli dam daily for households, and 3 MLD for irrigation. The areas irrigated include Nagorcem, Palolem and Gulem, he added.The engineer said Chapoli dam has a storage of 603.2 hectare-metres and the reduced level stands at 32.9m, while Gaunem irrigation dam stores 108 hectare-metres with a reduced level of 59.3m, as of Monday. He also said Gaunem dam supplies water to the Ordhofond pumping station.
