Controlled water release from Chapoli to meet summer demand
Canacona: Water resource department officials said that raw water is being released from the Chapoli reservoir in a controlled manner to ensure water availability this summer.
He said that 10 million litres per day (MLD) of water is supplied from Chapoli dam daily for households, and 3 MLD for irrigation. The areas irrigated include Nagorcem, Palolem and Gulem, he added.
The engineer said Chapoli dam has a storage of 603.2 hectare-metres and the reduced level stands at 32.9m, while Gaunem irrigation dam stores 108 hectare-metres with a reduced level of 59.3m, as of Monday. He also said Gaunem dam supplies water to the Ordhofond pumping station.
