Margao: Acting upon complaints by villagers as well as a local panch member, Colva sarpanch Snowkon Gonsalves on Sunday issued a notice directing a private party to stop the ongoing allegedly illegal work of constructing plots in Colva II ward behind the church.
Gonsalves told TOI that the Colva panchayat had also issued a copy of the notice to the Colva police directing them to halt the work being undertaken since no requisite permissions had been obtained from the town and country planning (TCP) department and the Colva panchayat.
“There is an illegal sub-division of property being constructed on over 8,000sq m of land with no open spaces being maintained. The panchayat will conduct a site inspection on April 13 between 10am and 11am,” the sarpanch said.
