Canacona police are yet to make any progress in the investigations into the complaint lodged by a parent of a high school student recently, alleging that her teacher meted out corporal punishment to her.

MARGAO: Canacona police are yet to make any progress in the investigations into the complaint lodged by a parent of a high school student recently, alleging that her teacher meted out corporal punishment to her.
Police sources said that they were in the process of recording statements in connection with the case, but evaded pointed questions in that regard.

The police have also, so far, neither recorded the statement of the accused nor have called him for interrogations, police sources said.
Canacona police had booked an offence against a high school teacher on February 3 based on the complaint lodged by the child's mother under Section 8 of the Goa Children's Act.
Police sources said that as per the complaint the accused allegedly slapped the girl while in school, but have so far declined to provide any further details.
